Many Hollywood movies are filmed on sets that appear to be real locations, but Jim Carrey's film The Truman Show was filmed in a real location that they pretended was a Hollywood set. That location, which is called Seahaven in the film, is actually Seaside, Florida, along the state's Emerald Coast (or 30A) and it's one of the most influential and charming towns in the world.

If you’re smack-dab between Miami and Boca Raton, you must be in Fort Lauderdale. And while we’re spending a couple of weeks in South Florida filming episodes along the coast, we decided to check out the culinary scene in this tourist destination to see if there’s anything worth writing home about. Is the FTL just a land of spring break food shacks—or will we uncover some tasty upscale hotspots?

After having such a great time on our Miami Mojito Tour, we decided to pack up the the little kids and hit Miami Beach for another full day, just to sample the much-hyped Miami food scene. We talked to locals and rounded up a handful of the top Miami restaurants and then walked our way through South Beach to sample them all. The classic mojito is a refreshing, minty, rum-and-lime-based cocktail invented centuries ago in Cuba. But we’re not in Cuba; we’re in the U.S.—and no place in the U.S. is more Cuban than the tiny village of Miami, Florida. So we left the kids with a sitter so we could drink our way through town in search of the best Mojito this side of Havana. It’s a rough mission, but we’re taking one for the team.
