Three days ago, our family left our part-time home in Manila for our first visit to Dubai. We explored the legendary emirate by sea, air, and land. But now we’ve driven 75 minutes south to Abu Dhabi to experience some of the most magical parts of UAE culture. From sites and bites to a journey through the world’s largest sand desert and a night at one of the most awesome hotels on the planet.

Our family’s catching a flight from our part-time home in the Philippines to the opposite side of Asia, touching down in the city and emirate of Dubai. Even though this is our first time in the UAE, we’re bypassing the obvious tourist traps in search of some Arabian adventure that’s more off the beaten path. But that starts with a full day of travel, so we’re taking you along and showing you the Airlink flight experience to Kruger, the chartered plane experience to Phinda, how we pack efficiently for a safari, and what our luxurious mountain lodging is like.

We’ve spent the past week exploring the beautiful country of South Africa and while the history, food, landscapes have been captivating, I’m definitely craving another dose of extreme adventure. Turns out there’s a place just a short drive away where you can cage dive with Africa’s apex predators: the nile crocodile. So Colt and I are leaving the girls above-surface for a bit while we submerge ourselves in a bucket-list experience that we hope to return from.

We’re staying closer to the city of Cape Town and exploring the local sites and bites that represent its vibrant, multi-cultural community. From the Instagram-famous streets and historical mosques of Bo-Kaap to home-cooked Malay dishes and a 14-course African food performance.

Our South African adventures continue but today we’re flying from the mega city of Johannesburg to the coastal treasure of Cape Town. You’re about to see what this breezy travel day entails but we’re also gonna show you the luxury waterfront digs where we’re crashing for the next 3 nights and we’re gonna take you on a very different kind of African safari just outside of The Mother City.

South Africa is our family’s 23rd country after 3 years of constant travel and we’ve kicked off our Rainbow Nation tour here in Johannesburg… also known as Jo-burg… or Jozi. With so much diverse culture and rich history to discover, we’re hiring a local guide and a private driver for the day so that we can explore the city efficiently before heading into the remote bush for back-to-back safaris.

After 3 years exploring the Americas, Europe and Asia, we just arrived in Africa for the first time. And even though we’re spending our entire 18-day trip in the country of South Africa, we really wanna get a taste of the cultures that span the continent. So to kick things off, we’re leaving Melrose Arch—one of the nicest neighborhoods in Johannesburg—and heading to Yeoville—one of the poorest. It may be notorious for its high levels of crime and poverty, but it also boasts a diverse pan-African culture that’ll provide an eclectic backdrop to our first real experience in the city.

Our tour of Malaysia is over and we’re spending today flying from Kuala Lumpur to Manila, Philippines. Since we have a 6-hour scheduled layover in Manila, we’re going to make the most of the airport amenities, but since we have to exit the secure area and recheck our bags anyway, we might take advantage of a special opportunity that presents.

Our journey by train around Malaysia continues as we’ve left Ipoh and arrived for a few days on the island of Penang. Today, we’re starting off by exploring the iconic sites and bites in and around the UNESCO world heritage site of George Town, then heading to the legendary night market that’s just minutes away from our resort.
