Outex Underwater Camera Housing

The name “Always Be Changing” implies constant improvement and that concept is represented almost nowhere as much as when it comes to underwater filming equipment. After owning countless GoPros, Insta360s, and iPhones, we realized that there currently is no camera on the market that produces good audio quality once it’s been submerged in water. You can see in many of our older episodes that those water shots almost always have muffled voices, which ruins the footage and disrupts the story.

That’s when we discovered Outex. These universal bladders are a fraction of the cost of professional housing and also have enough free space inside to allow for our wireless DJI mic receiver. And while we can’t use the mics themselves underwater, we do keep them close-at-hand in our waterproof box (you can also use a bag) so they take only seconds to remove and use in between underwater shots. But the end result is simple: the same video quality that our Sony mirrorless provides everywhere else we film and top-notch audio when we need it. It’s the best of all worlds.

We originally purchased the Entry kit, which was a mistake. It was nearly impossible to get onto the camera and the lack of rear glass limited functionality and usability. For these reasons, we highly recommend spending extra for the Pro kit.
