Dubai Off The Beaten Path: By Sea, Air, and Land
Our family’s catching a flight from our part-time home in the Philippines to the opposite side of Asia, touching down in the city and emirate of Dubai. Even though this is our first time in the UAE, we’re bypassing the obvious tourist traps in search of some Arabian adventure that’s more off the beaten path. So we’re about to explore Dubai by sea… by air… and by land.
We found the rarest safari animal on earth (and it’s adorable)
We’re wrapping up a tour of South Africa with a few days deep in the bush of Kruger National Park. Since our very fruitful game drives around Phinda already checked off all of Africa’s Big Five, including the lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino, and leopard, we’re focusing this safari on spotting a few other exciting animals, including one of the rarest on Earth.
Stalking Africa's “Big Five” in Phinda (Part 2)
On our second and third days at Phinda Private Game Reserve in South Africa, we're in search of more beautiful wildlife — and we don't come up empty-handed. Will we finally find the one member of Africa's "Big Five" that's proven most elusive?
Stalking Africa's “Big Five” in Phinda (Part 1)
It’s finally time to trek into the bush for some big game safari adventure. But that starts with a full day of travel, so we’re taking you along and showing you the Airlink flight experience to Kruger, the chartered plane experience to Phinda, how we pack efficiently for a safari, and what our luxurious mountain lodging is like.
We swam with South Africa's apex predator (and survived)
We’ve spent the past week exploring the beautiful country of South Africa and while the history, food, landscapes have been captivating, I’m definitely craving another dose of extreme adventure. Turns out there’s a place just a short drive away where you can cage dive with Africa’s apex predators: the nile crocodile. So Colt and I are leaving the girls above-surface for a bit while we submerge ourselves in a bucket-list experience that we hope to return from.
Surviving a 5-hour caving adventure through Malaysia’s Gua Tempurung
We just took a 200km train trip from Kuala Lumpur to a Malaysian city that’s known as much for its vibrant food and arts scene as for its rich mining history. But we’re here for a different kind of adventure: we’re about to climb, crawl, and swim deep into one of the country’s hottest caves, in an experience that’s sure to be a physical challenge for the entire fam.
Swimming with Whale Sharks in Oslob, Philippines
For our last day in Cebu, we’re making our third attempt at swimming with the Philippines’ iconic whale sharks. After canceling our first excursion last year and then coming up empty handed in Donsol a few months ago, we’re really hoping that the third time’s a charm as we head into Oslob this morning.
Cliff Jumping + Canyoneering in Cebu, Philippines
We're officially back in the Philippines and we're on the southern tip of Cebu. We came back to cash in some rain checks from adventures that we missed on our first trip to the island last year. We are about to go to canyoneering through the rivers, waterfalls, jungles, and—you guessed it—canyons of Alegria.
Which of these Ubud, Bali adventures could you skip?
We’re spending the week with our friends from mom duty in an epic Bali jungle villa but really feel like getting out into the surrounding jungles. So, we’ve booked an entire day of family friendly adventure that we hope will give us a new perspective on Ubud.
What’s a Floating Bali Breakfast? We trekked into the jungles of Ubud to find out.
We’re about to spend 4 days exploring the local scene, adventuring through nature, and kicking back in our private, 6-bedroom villa situated along one of the world’s newest UNESCO world heritage sites.
Will our kids rappel rainforest waterfalls in Maui?
Our year of Pacific island hopping continues and today we’re all jumping OUT of our comfort zones and DOWN the face of multiple waterfalls, deep in the rainforests of Maui. At least, that’s the plan… but will Brooklyn and Colt be “repelled” by this adventure?
Experiencing Nagano: Ramen, Ninja, and the Olympic Memorial
We're bullet training through the birthplace of ninja to meet back up with our favorite fellow filming fam: MomDuty! And while we're sharing a mountainside Nagano chalet for the weekend, we figured we might as well put all four kids through a little ninja training themselves.
How Oahu blew us away and changed our opinion of Hawaii culture
We’re now halfway across the Pacific on the island of Oahu. It’s our first time here together but after Phil flew out last month to free dive with sharks for Reagan’s 16th birthday, we knew we had to bring the entire family back to see what makes this Hawaiian jewel such a treasure.
First impressions of Phuket, Thailand culture
After spending a magical 3 days living among a community of free range elephants in the jungles of Changrai, Thailand, we’re flying south to Phuket. This rainforested, mountainous island in the Andaman sea is home to some of the country’s most beautiful beaches and crystal clear waters. But since we’re only here for two nights, we have to find as many authentic, local experiences as possible so that we can get to know the culture of Phuket in one perfect day.
The natural wonders of Bohol, Philippines
We’re packing up and heading southeast to experience the natural wonders of Bohol—and to find out why this destination is one of the most popular in the Philippines.
We took over Francis Ford Coppola's private island in Belize for 3 days
Private islands are the ultimate indulgence for the rich and famous. And when we spent a week at Francis Ford Coppola’s Turtle Inn resort in Belize last year, the staff told us about Coral Caye—his private island that’s just a half hour boat ride off the coast. And when they said our family could have it all to ourselves for 3 days, we knew we had to see if the secluded beach life is all it’s cracked up to be.
$29 Million Restaurant Experience: Picasso at Bellagio Las Vegas
This episode is another one of our popular restaurant reviews, but with an epic twist. Since it's Colt's birthday, we wanted to make the experience all about him.
Our Kids Caught Lobster! (But Will They Eat It?)
Our recent tour of New England led us to coastal Maine, where we HAD to get our hands on some tasty local lobster. But there was no way we were gonna just order from a menu when we could instead put our kids to work AND get a behind-the-scenes look at this strangely secretive industry. So we chartered a boat and a licensed lobster fisherman to take us out on the ocean in search of our next meal.
Our first big scare at sea - Attempting a family swim into Thunderball Grotto goes horribly wrong
With all of our travels to exotic locations and all of the adventurous excursions we undertake while there, we found ourselves falling into a false sense of security. But just because we have a professional guide and just because thousands of others may have done the same thing prior to us doesn't mean a particular activity is safe.
We swam in a shark FEEDING FRENZY + with the PIGS of famous Pig Island of the Exumas in The Bahamas
In what was certainly our most exciting travel day so far, our yacht captain took us to 3 Exumas hot spots: The Washing Machine, swimming in the middle of a shark feeding frenzy at Compass Cay, and playing with the swimming pigs on the world famous Pig Island!
