First impressions of Phuket, Thailand culture
After spending a magical 3 days living among a community of free range elephants in the jungles of Changrai, Thailand, we’re flying south to Phuket. This rainforested, mountainous island in the Andaman sea is home to some of the country’s most beautiful beaches and crystal clear waters. But since we’re only here for two nights, we have to find as many authentic, local experiences as possible so that we can get to know the culture of Phuket in one perfect day.
Sleeping with elephants in a jungle bubble in Chiang Rai, Thailand
We spent two nights in a riverfront jungle compound that’s just a stone’s throw from the neighboring countries of Myanmar and Laos. On the final night, we slept under the stars, in a big clear bubble, among a community of beautiful rescue elephants—at one of the top eco resorts on the planet.
Scavenger hunt to find these 4 things in a Thailand floating market
After spending last night experiencing some very adventurous street foods on the busy streets of downtown Bangkok, we’re heading just outside of the city for a full day of authentic Thai culture. We’re also turning this excursion into a little impromptu scavenger hunt because there are 4 specific things we’re after: a souvenir Buddha for my high school friend, an oyster plucked straight from water and down the hatch, the freshest mango on earth, and some hungry primates to play with our little monkeys.
Crazy street foods in Bangkok, Thailand's Chinatown at night!
After just a couple of months away, we're now back in Southeast Asia, in what's a brand new city and country for us: Bangkok, Thailand. With big appetites and a little big of jet lag, we're kicking things off with a nighttime street food tour of the city's Chinatown. Live squid, dead scorpions, and a lot in between.
