Private Tour! Mayan Ruin Chichen Itza, Selva Maya Cenote, and Valladolid – Inspirato Family Travel

This is our first full-day family tour in Riviera Maya, Mexico, on our Inspirato Pass trip. We've been staying at the Banyan Tree Mayakoba resort and having a great time so far!

Check out our other videos in our Banyan Tree Mayakoba playlist.

We had the greatest tour guide, Julio, who was incredibly knowledgeable. On the long, two hour drive, to our first stop, Chichen Itza, we taught us how to do Mayan math. A skill I hope we keep with us for a long time.

First, we stopped at one of the seven wonders of the world, Chichen Itza, a famous Mayan ruin. As Julio would say, "It's not the tallest ruin and it's not the prettiest ruin, but it's the most fascinating." There is an amazing echo that happens when you clap your hands when you're centered to the 90' steps. Because of their perfect acoustics, it creates the exact replica sound of their sacred bird. It was very hard to capture that sound on camera, but it was amazing.

Then we ventured onto what is probably our favorite experience of the day, Selva Maya Estates where we saw cenotes de Yucatan. The whole family would agree, that was an experience we'll never forget. The beauty alone is unforgettable, but being in the water and soaking up the sereneness of nature doing its best job was the highlight of our day. The water was only a tad cold :)

And our day wasn't over yet!

The next, and last, stop was Valladolid Mexico, where we got lunch and toured around the historic, colonial city. The church held the center of attention but the iguanas were the only thing Colt couldn't take his eyes off. ;)

Overall, it was an incredible day. But eventually we had to leave Valladolid Yucatan and head back to Playa del Carmen. Our adventures are only just starting... so please subscribe to our travel vlog to see many, many more.
