And if you’re expecting a standard collection of Mexican restaurants, you’re in for a tasty surprise. In a city that’s long been a haven for ex-pats—where about 1 out of 5 residents isn’t even Mexican—the food scene here is just as diverse. So, to truly experience the flavor of SMA means embracing the varied cuisines that help put this city on the global culinary map.

We’re still here in the best city in the world (according to Travel & Leisure) and part of what makes San Miguel so cool is its eclectic food scene. So we’re taking a little break from filming our upscale restaurant tour to search out the great eats that were most recommended by locals. These bites may not be as adventurous as some of the street foods we just tried in Cebu City, but they’re bound to be every bit as delicious.

And true to our mission of finding authentic experiences, we’re crashing in a downtown house, meeting up with a local to visit the mercado, cooking up a home-style Mexican meal, volunteering at neighborhood charity, and exploring some of the spots that make this town so unique.

While we were in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico last week, we decided to take a guided, walking taco and tequila tour of San Jose del Cabo. So, we met up with the local experts over at Juan More Taco to get a real feel for the culture and culinary creations of this beautiful city.

Our three bedroom villa at Los Veneros was the perfect spot. The home itself was well-appointed and beautiful. And I think my favorite part was our private pool that was just steps from the larger building pool... all with a stunning view of the ocean.

After seeing a momma and her calf put on a show when we visited the Marietas, we wanted more. We sailed off into the sunset with AllyCat Sailing Tours in search of whale sightings and the green flash.

When we started planning our Punta de Mita trip with our travel planner, we learned about the Inspirato signature experience: A cooking lesson with Casianos catering company and a personal bartender.

The moment our Inspirato trip planner told us about the Marietas Islands, we felt like we had to go. It was right up our alley and an adventure the whole family could enjoy. There's a hidden beach in the middle of the island and photos online looked incredible!

Our many travels with our Inspirato Pass wouldn't be as incredible if we didn't take time out to explore each destination. And one of our traditions has become one-on-one time between Phil and each of our 3 kids. On our most recent trip to Mexico's Riviera Maya (Playa Del Carmen, to be exact), he took another deep-sea fishing trip with Colt, another SCUBA tour with Reagan, and went jet skiing with Brooklyn.

We're on our Inspirato Pass vacation in Riviera Maya and staying at the Mayakoba Banyan Tree resort. This isn't our first rodeo in Playa del Carmen but it might have been the best. And that's saying a lot because we got married in Playa in 2010.

When we were brainstorming about what to do in Cozumel, the idea of spending the day on the water kept coming up in our minds. We wanted our kids to experience some of the best snorkeling in the world. So we booked a full-day yacht charter.

This is our first full-day family tour in Riviera Maya, Mexico, on our Inspirato Pass trip. We've been staying at the Banyan Tree Mayakoba resort and having a great time so far! But today we ventured out into the Yucatan with our guide Julio.
